Nepal – Darjeeling – Sikkim – India Tour

Day 1: Arrive Kathmandu, we will come to pick you up the airport and take you to the Hotel.

Day 2: After breakfast, we will take you for a full day sightseeing of Kathmandu valley and drive to Nagarkot for sunrise and mountain view. (B.L.D.)

Day 3: Morning Sunrise and later drive to Bhaktapur for sightseeing and drive to Kathmandu. Evening we take you for culture show and dinner. (B.D.)

Day 04: Kathmandu – Darjeeling (Flight about 45 min Flight)(flight not included.

                                   
After breakfast, fly to Bhadrapur(flight not included) about 45 minutes, up on arrival meet assistance at the airport and take a scenic drive to Kakarbitta –Pani tanki (Indo –Nepal border) after the immigration formalities drive to Darjeeling “Queen of hill station” about 5 hours.  Overnight at hotel

Day 05: Darjeeling Sightseeing 

Tiger Hill: Tiger Hill is about 12km from Darjeeling and is a mecca for tourists visiting the mountains.  You have to get up at 4am to make it there in time for sunrise, over the Mount Kangchenjunga range.  As the sun appears, the mountain changes color in what is a pretty darn amazing sight.  It is the third highest mountain in the world and Everest is viewable in the distance.

Ghoom Monastery: on the way when you back from the Tiger hill, you can visit the Ghoom Monastery on the Ghoom spur. This monastery one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in India, it houses 12 ft high statue of Lord Buddha. One and only Railway Plat form in India situated at high altitude declared as world heritage site.

Batasia Loop: The world famous heritage toy train (DHR) winds its way through one out of the three loops en route to Siliguri from Darjeeling at Batasia, which is very near to Ghoom railway station. Ghoom railway station is the highest railway station to be reached by a steam locomotive. This loop is perfect masterpiece of railway engineering. At the center of the loop a war memorial stands which reminds us of the Gorkha martyrs, who laid their lives protecting the sovereignty of our motherland.

Zoo: This is the only Zoo in the world to breed Tibetan Wolf in Captivity and the first South Asian Zoo to breed Snow Leopard and Siberian Tiger. Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoo is a unique zoo in the country. It is situated at an elevation of 2133.5 meters against the glorious background of the mighty Kanchenjunga. This zoo in Darjeeling is the only specialized zoo in the country and is internationally recognized because of conservation breeding of Snow Leopard and Red Panda. It was established on 14th August 1958 under the Department of Education of the State for study and conservation of the Himalayan Fauna. On 21st November 1975, the zoo was dedicated by Shrimati Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister of India, to the memory of Shrimati Padmaja Naidu, former Governor of West Bengal. Since then the zoo is known as “Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park”.

H.M.I.: Himalayan Mountaineering Institute. world famous institute of which the Everest hero Tenzing Norgay was one of the founding members and field director. You will see the HMI museum houses a rare collection of mementoes from various Expeditions. Nawang Gombu who climbed Everest twice.

Tea Garden: Visit Happy Valley Tea Garden, you can see and feel the real tea plantations of famous Darjeeling tea that called Happy Valley Tea Garden.

Tibetan Self Help Center: The Tibetan Refugee Self-Help Centre was started on October 1, 1959. At that time, following the dramatic escape of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, thousands of Tibetans leaving hearth and home, fled into the neighboring countries to live as free human beings. “It is no exaggeration, in fact, to say that without self-help there can be no rehabilitation, be it economic, social, psychological, cultural or spiritual. Therefore, a ten-member committee was formed in Darjeeling to organize a rehabilitation centre to be known as “Tibetan Refugees Self-Help Center”

Day 06: Darjeeling to Gangtok (Sikkim)(1,700m/5,600ft): 115 km, 4 hours

After breakfast we drive to Gangtok; headquarters of the East Sikkim district and the largest town in the area. Here, we visit the beautiful Enchey Monastery followed by a trip to the Institute of Cottage Industries. At the institute of cottage industries, we can watch young students being taught the traditional art of thangkha painting, weaving, wood carving and carpet making. Later we tour the Institute of Tibetology, which is constructed in the traditional Tibetan style, with murals and decorated pillars. Overnight in Gangtok.

Day 07: Gangtok to Martam (1,450m/4,428 ft): 125km, 2 hours

We get up early in the morning to visit Tashi view point which is about 8km away from Gangtok. From here, we get to enjoy astounding views of Mt. Kanchenjunga, Siniolchu ranges and the distant north Sikkim monasteries. Next, we return to our hotel to have breakfast. Then tour Rumtek Monastery before heading for Martam to spend the night. Overnight in Martam.

Day 05:  Martam to Kalimpong (1247m/4,100 ft): 4 hours

After breakfast we leave Martam for Kalimpong, a small town established for trade between India, Bhutan and Tibet. The town is a Hindu majority area with Nepalese as the major ethnic community. If possible, on the way to our hotel, we can visit Mangal Dham Temple which is a Hindu temple constructed by the Hindu sect of Shri Krishna Pranami. Upon reaching Kalimpong, we can spend our evening strolling on the streets of this beautiful town and exploring its bustling bazaar. Overnight in kalimpong.

Day 08:  Sightseeing in Kalimpong

Today, we visit Kalimpong’s popular landmarks including Durpin Gumba, Dr Graham’s Home, Lepcha Heritage Museum and Himalayan Handmade Paper Industry. Durpin Gumba is Kalimpong’s largest monastery. Dr Graham’s Home is an educational institution famous for its elaborate architecture. The Lepcha Heritage Museum houses a collection of Lepcha treasurers. While touring the Himalayan Handmade Paper Industry one can enjoy the traditional paper making process. Kalimpong is a prominent producer and exporter of India’s gladioli and many orchid varieties. Therefore, while here we will also visit a few of the town’s picturesque nurseries. Overnight in Kalimpong.

Day 09:  Final Departure

After breakfast we leave for Bagdora airport which will take us around 2 hours. From the airport we will have to fly to Delhi in order to board international flight. Up on arrival at Delhi Airport meet and assistance by our representative and transfer to airport to board the flight for on ward journey.
